World Championships bronze medallist Lakshya Sen shocked defending champion Lee Zii Jia of Malaysia to achieve his maiden closing on the All England Championships in Birmingham on Saturday.
The 20-year-old Sen turned solely the third males’s singles participant after Prakash Padukone and Pullela Gopichand to achieve the ultimate after outwitting Lee 21-13 12-21 21-19 in a gruelling semifinal match.
Padukone and Gopichand are the one Indians to have gained the distinguished occasion, whereas Saina Nehwal had reached the ultimate in 2015.
Sen has been in sensational type within the final six months as he secured his maiden Tremendous 500 title at India Open in January after which claimed a runner-up end on the German Open final week.
